ACCREON ANNOUNCES CO-CEO APPOINTMENTS
Accreon Inc, Atlantic Canada’s foremost business technology consulting firm, announces the appointment of Trevor Cookson and Neil Russon as Co-CEO’s.
September 1, 2009 – (Fredericton, NB) - Accreon Inc, Atlantic Canada’s foremost business and technology consulting firm serving clients in both Canada and the US, announces the appointment of Trevor Cookson and Neil Russon as Co-CEO’s.
The appointment of Cookson and Russon follows a succession planning process initiated in 2008 in anticipation of the retirement of Accreon’s first President and CEO Al MacDonald, who will be retiring from the company on August 31, 2009.
Mr. Cookson and Mr. Russon have worked alongside one another for the past 18 months as part of the senior management team at Accreon. Cookson brings over 20 years experience in executive management and sales experience in Canada, USA, UK and Asia Pacific with a focus on IT commercialization, solution and product development. He has previously served as President and CEO of Evention Technologies leading acquisitions, sales and product development including the successful commercialization of AUTROS, a world-class hospital pharmacy and medication management solution, and its subsequent acquisition by Baxter International, Inc.
Outgoing CEO Al MacDonald commented on Cookson’s appointment, stating, “Trevor is well equipped to help lead this company into the next phase of its maturity. His global sales experience and business relationships are fundamentally important to Accreon’s growth over the next five years.”
Cookson will oversee sales, marketing and innovation while Russon will lead finance and business operations.
Neil Russon brings over 30 years of executive level experience to his new role as Co-CEO. His focus during that time has been largely in healthcare, particularly as former CEO of the New Brunswick Extramural Hospital. Russon has held several executive positions in both the private and public sectors including Fujitsu, DMR and XWave.
“Our search for new leadership has been focused and thorough. Neil is a terrific leader who will work towards enhancing team performance and developing internal talent. He brings great attention to financial performance, possesses a wealth of experience in business operations, and along with his personal style and integrity, Neil will continue to build a company that our employees take pride in and one that is valued by our customers,” added MacDonald of Russon’s appointment.
Neil has sat on various Professional Associations and Committees including the NB Premier’s Round Table on Innovation, New Brunswick Society of Management Accountants, New Brunswick Chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian College of Health Services Executives and the Canadian Science and Technology Museums.
In addition to the appointments to Co-CEO, MacDonald also announced the expansion to the company’s corporate governance. ‘As of Jan 1, 2010, Mary Goggin and Blair Kuhn will join Martin Ferguson as Directors on Accreon’s Board of Directors. This is a very strategic step for the company as we continue to build the type of Board we feel necessary to support Accreon as it moves forward to become a true global player’.
The new Co-CEO’s will succeed Al MacDonald, Accreon’s inaugural President and CEO. Macdonald’s goals were to oversee a successful entry into the marketplace, establish a strong reputation, obtain market share, and mature the operations of Accreon. MacDonald stated, “I feel that we’ve accomplished these already and that is a tribute to the hard work each and every one of the team contributes on a daily basis. Given the pace at which we have met our objectives, now is an appropriate time for me to pass the leadership over to Neil and Trevor.”
